A New Father in Law

This is Ron's mom, Rosie, and her new guy, Earl. We are happy to announce that they will be getting married on May 1st!

This might not sound all that huge to most people, but just a few short years ago, Rosie was a confirmed man hater. She swore up one wall and down the other that she would never have anything to do with another man the rest of her life. And who could blame her? Unfortunately, Ron's father hadn't treated her very well the last 20 years of their 46 year marriage. He had a lot of emotional issues on top of serious health issues, so we could make a lot of excuses for him, but the bottom line, he was a mean SOB. We never knew how bad it really was, had a few ideas, but Rosie was never willing to do anything about it. Fortunately, we all have our limits and she reached hers 3 years ago. So, Ron's mom divorced his dad and tried to heal. I don't know how you ever really get past some of what she went thru, but Ron's dad passed away last April and I think that helped her more than anything.

So, you can imagine our surprise when she announced she had met somebody and had been dating a few months! We were so happy for her and even more thrilled when they announced that they were getting married!

On Monday, we got to meet Earl for the first time. He and his brother, Harvey, are in Phoenix for a boy's vacation of golf. Mostly I think they are down here to thaw out some since Earl lives in Montana and Harvey lives in North Dakota, but we will go with the golf excuse. They came over for dinner on Monday night and we all had a great time getting to know each other. These guys are a real hoot too!

But you know what the best part was? Earl told us that he really loves Rosie and he wants to show her what she has been missing all these years. He wants to take her to see the world and do the traveling that Rosie has never been able to do. How great is that for Ron to hear that there is somebody out there that loves his Mom as much as he does? And how special will it be for him and his brother to walk her down the aisle? Maybe there is such a thing as a happy ending. Nobody deserves one more than Rosie.
