Dreading Today

Today is one of those days that I have to do something and I would give just about anything to not to have to do it. I have to go to a funeral/memorial service today. A funeral is never a fun thing under normal circumstances, but this will be the first one since my dad died in April. I know I am going to be an emotional wreck just thinking about and remembering my dad, much less thinking about the loss of a friend.

I met Lance and his wife Margaret about 10 years ago. They were a referral from another friend that Lance was coming to work for. We spent about a week finding the perfect house for them and just had a great time together. As with so many people, they started out as clients and turned into friends. We didn't see each other all that much, but we did keep in touch. What was really funny is that Lance would see me out doing open houses and he would always stop by and say hello.

Lance and Margaret have had some tough times in the last year or so, as so many people have with this economy. I don't know all the details except that he was found floating in his pool by his son. All I know is that he was loved by so many and will be great missed.

Black, Lance T.
42 of Chandler, AZ, was admitted to Chandler Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 25, 2010 after a sudden accident. He passed away on Monday, June 28, surrounded by family and friends. Born May 30, 1968, in Fremont, CA. He was the son of the late Robert Black. Lance's mother, Anita Black, resides in Modesto. He was the youngest of 4 brothers. Lance will be remembered for his generous heart, his adventurous spirit and remarkable wit. A devout Christian; Lance's passion was having served the Lord, most recently Katrina and Haitian victims. His wife, Margaret; sons, Josh and Evan; mother Anita Black; brothers Daamon and Shawn of Modesto; sister-in-law, Erin and several nieces and nephews survive him. He is preceded in death by his father Robert and Brother Kevin. Services will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary in Chandler, AZ.
