You Know Your Kid is Growing Up When . . . .

. . . . they realize that expensive little sports car isn't so practical any more.

Aaron came to this conclusion yesterday. Or maybe he had been working up to it for a while, but he finally voiced it to us yesterday. He loves, loves, loves his little Mini Cooper and it was a car he dreamed about since he was a teenager. It was his present to himself when he finally got signed off the very first time as an Air Traffic Controller. He's had the car for 2 years and takes really good care of it but now it's starting to have issues. That isn't a major deal because it's all under warranty. Where it becomes a problem is in the fact that he lives in Boise and the nearest dealership to him is basically 6-8 hours east or west in Portland or Salt Lake City. Kind of a long drive to take your car into service!

So, it's a problem. Add on top of that he got a hole in his tire 2 weeks ago and because of the type of tires that are on the car he had to replace them. To the tune of $600 for TWO TIRES! Ouch! This came on the heals of his refrigerator conking out on him and he had to replace that a week prior. Let's just say that January was a very expensive month. And we won't even go into the fact that he has to put premium gas into the thing and how expensive that is.

So, Aaron has learned a lesson and has decided to look for a new car. He wants to get a truck so is out looking at those. He might need to try and sell the car himself so he can at least get what is owed on it and not have to make up the difference. Not sure this will happen sooner rather than later, but I'm sure it will happen at some point this year.

Another sign my little boy is growing up. Makes me feel old.
