It Always Comes in 3's

Yesterday we got the news that Brenna has to have more surgery on her hand.

Two weeks ago today, while she was at work, she was turning a patient and heard a pop. There was instant pain and she knew something wasn't right. Since it happened at work, she talked to her supervisor and they sent her down to the ER for a look. The xray came back okay, but obviously something happened because it swelled up so bad so quick. They put her in a brace and told her to follow up on Monday. This is all being dealt with by workman's comp, so she has had to see their docs but because she so recently had surgery on the same hand, she was able to get changed back to her own doc.

We went in to see him yesterday and there is some concern that the tendons he anchored down might have pulled off, but they can't tell right now. What they do know is that she has a new cyst growing on her wrist, similar to the last one. We thought draining it might be an option but because there is so much scar tissue right there and it's right by a main artery, even the hand surgeon didn't feel comfortable doing that. So, back to surgery we go. Not sure when it will happen as we still have to wait for workman's comp to approve. Brenna has been on light duty for the last two weeks but now it looks like they will just put her on disability until after the surgery. Luckily, that will pay her two thirds of her salary so she will be able to make her car payments, bills etc.

To top off the evening, her lap top turned on to the blue screen of death so now she has to go buy a new lap top today. Needless to say, she was pretty down last night. Felt so sorry for the kid! As if breaking up with the boyfriend wasn't bad enough, now this. But they say it always comes in 3's, so hopefully we are done with the bad news for a while.
