When we got back from San Diego, Brenna was scheduled to work 5 nights in a row. It was going to be tough, but it was the price she had to pay for being off a few days. On her first night back, Thursday night/Friday morning, they had one of their "frequent flyers" come into the ER. I won't go into all the details since it would be a HIPA violation, but the short story is that this guy ended up assaulting Brenna. He started beating her up and got a few good punches in before help arrived. Luckily, most of his blows landed on her shoulder and back, so it could have been so much worse. Police were called, reports were filed, the guy was hauled off and she will have to make a court appearance at some point in time most likely.
Brenna has been really sore for a few days but mostly has worked thru it until yesterday. Her back started to have spasms and she had to go on meds, so she couldn't work her last shift of the 5. Workman's comp has been filed but she doesn't qualify for it yet, so she will just be out of the money which kind of stinks.
Unfortunately, this will probably be only the first time this happens. I want to think that my daughter can take care of herself for the most part and nothing can happen to her at work, but our little glass house was truly shattered with this incident. Brenna's boyfriend and her daddy were ready to go find this guy and "teach him a lesson", they were so upset. I think Brenna has been the most calm about this whole thing!
I think what upsets me the most is that this guy will be back on the streets so quickly. Can't they just throw him in jail and throw away the key?

Oh my gosh, that is so scary! I'm so glad Brenna's ok. Poor thing.
